August Monthly Faves: Top 8 Things You Must Have

August, so far has been full of strength, peace and joy. Like many, Covid-19 affected my life and led to a period of instability during the month of July. However, incorporating these top 8 things into my life has allowed me to restore a bit of balance into my life. So thought I’d share what I have been loving this month, as I hope it helps you too!

Essential Oils (Eucalyptus)

Wow! I am so late to the game on this one. I have seriously noticed a difference in mood, since I started using this on a daily basis. I have an oil diffuser so I usually pop in two - three drops of this in there and turn that baby on about 4-5 times a day. Usually for about an hour during my morning yoga session, twice during my work hours, once post work / right before bed. I feel so relaxed and highly recommend!

Ginger Turmeric Tea

This type of tea has always been hit or miss for me because the flavor isn’t always great, but the Trader Joe’s version changed my mind. Not only is this delicious, but I have also noticed a decrease in inflammation and boost in my immune system. I’ve been on two road trips this last month and thankfully my health is still good to go (I give credit to the tea). A tip to making this even more enjoyable is adding a little bit of organic honey.

Adidas Running Shoes

Omg, my apologies for any past commentary on this brand. I was so wrong! For the longest time I swore by Nike shoes, but recently I bought a pair of Adidas and it has done wonders for my feet when it comes to exercising. I like these because they provide a lot of support, they’re light, and very flexible which is perfect for performing a variety of exercises. I got mine in black because I wanted them to go with every outfit, but you can spice up your life with any color really!

Holy Bible App

Jesus take the wheel, am I right? To say these last few months have been crazy, is an understatement. With so much uncertainty going on in the world, I've really been enjoying spending more time with the Lord. I like this bible app because you can select your preferred version of the Bible, highlight favorite verses, take notes, and even select a plan to help you read scripture. They also have this cool verse of the day feature which usually comes in a variety of wallpaper designs so you can set this as the background to your phone for the day. It’s a good way to ground yourself in your faith, which has been the key to navigating through these last few weeks.

Bio Oil

I first saw this in one of Jeanine Amapola’s videos. I thought about getting it, but held off because I wasn’t sure a trip to ULTA was a priority during this pandemic. However, after seeing many people rave about it I decided to check out the hype. It lives up! I’ve noticed a difference in my skin and I am loving it. For so long I was so uncomfortable about some scars and stretch marks, but this has notability reduced the appearance (so grateful). If you want to try this out start off with the 2 fl oz bottle for $14 (currently on sale for $10) and then upgrade to the 4 fl oz if you like it.

Good & Gather Strawberry Mango Sparkling Water

Obsessed! For the last 4 years I have been soda free and would say it’s rare I drink anything other than water. I also never liked sparkling water, until recently. A friend introduced this staple when she temporarily took me into her home, and my life was changed. Target’s Good and Gather brand has a variety of great products, but my favorite is this Strawberry Mango Water. I am obsessed. It’s so delicious and refreshing on a hot summer day in a cup of ice. I think others have caught on because as of recently every time I have gone to Target they’ve been sold out. If you manage to find some at your local target grab a pack, you won’t regret it!

Apple Watch Series 3

So this was generously gifted to me for my birthday a few months ago, and I have been loving it! Originally I wanted a Fitbit, but I’m glad I got this instead. It’s been a good way to keeping me on track during quarantine by setting a move, exercise and stand goal. In addition I can play music and receive messages so if I’m out for a run I don’t need to physically use my phone. I love that there are fun opportunities for engaging in competitions with friends and even a walkie talkie feature. I was torn for so long, but I’m glad I went the Apple route.

Spotify Summer Playlist

I’m not sure if everyone feels this way, but I cannot start my day without some good music. Growing up my mom always blasted music early in the mornings and it became a habit for me as well. I think it’s because of just helps set the mood for your day. I know with this pandemic it’s hard to feel good and upbeat, but this playlist has been giving me the perfect mood boost. The selection is listed below and you can follow the playlist on Spotify as well. Enjoy!
